Ruby and Ficelle decide to find out if things are better elsewhere. On their journey they make friends with the Misses Alibullen and Elvis Star. The girls also get to meet the two village policemen before they get very homesick…
The sweet and responsible Ruby and the spirited Ficelle are sisters. As is common between siblings, it is Ficelle, the little sister, who wants to be as good as her big sister, in everything, which is often the trigger in the hilarious adventures the girls embark upon within their idyllic village and beyond. The girls’ family includes their mother, their loving but impractical father, and a little brother. Their neighbours, the Misses Alibullen, and the two village policemen, are often in the scene and add further fun and games into the equation.
Sinikka Nopola (b. 1953) and Tiina Nopola (b. 1955) have been writing in partnership for over 30 years! Ruby & Ficelle, which was published in 1989, was their first co-authored book and it marked the beginning of their award-winning career in books, films, plays and music that continue to delight and entertain new generations.
