One day Siri notices a hole in her precious stuffed-toy, Bunny.
“Bunny must be hurting. She needs help,” Siri says. And so Siri’s friends, the three Ottos, take Bunny to a toy hospital with her. Since Siri is finding life so very difficult without Bunny, the hospital sends her a replacement toy, a little piglet, to keep her company. But Siri wishes they hadn’t because she thinks Piggy looks mean and horrible.
The characters found in the Siiri books are among the most loved in Finnish children’s literature. Siiri is an energetic little girl, and Little Otto, Middle Otto, and Big Otto are her best friends. The Siiri books, created by author Tiina Nopola (b. 1955) and illustrator Mervi Lindman (b.1971), bring the everyday moments that mean so much to pre-school children to life.
