Publisher Polirom has acquired the Romanian rights to Mika Waltari’s fairytale THE CHINESE CAT (Kiinalainen kissa ja muita satuja, WSOY 1932). The text has previously been published in Romanian by Albion in the early 2000s, with a print run of only 70 copies. Soon Romanian readers will again be able to enjoy this story. Polirom is planning to include Elena Lot Vlad’s illustrations of the original Romanian edition. Teodor Palic translated.
THE CHINESE CAT was first published in a collection of Mika Waltari’s most charming fairytales, The Chinese cat and other stories. Although the stories themselves have been written for young readers, their topics deal with issues of an adult nature and are sure to be appreciated by children and adults alike.
