Kaija Puura (b. 1961) MD., Ph.D is Professor of Child Psychiatry at the Tampere University of Finland and Head of Child Psychiatry at the Tampere University Hospital in Finland.
With a career spanning over thirty years, her extensive research and work on the assessment and treatment of young children has been widely published in national and international peer reviewed journals.
Kaija Puura is the first Finnish researcher of infant mental health to be awarded the prestigious René Spitz Award (2023). The award is granted for significant lifetime contributions to clinical and experimental research on topics related to infant mental health by World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH).
Kaija Puura is currently an Associate Editor of the Infant Mental Health Journal. She is also Executive Director of the World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH) and Vice President of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP).
