Markus Nummi has studied history and philosophy and has worked as a screenwriter, director, and producer in the fields of film and theater. Nummi’s debut novel, Kadonnut Pariisi, an intellectually challenging and mischievous fantasy novel, was published in 1994. He received the J. H. Erkko Prize for the novel. The book was also a nominee for the Runeberg Prize and the Nordic Council Literature Prize in 1998.
Nummi’s novel Karkkipäivä was a finalist for the Finlandia Prize in 2010.
