Satu Rämö

Satu Rämö (b. 1980) is one of the bestselling Finnish authors of the 21st century. The first 3 titles of her Nordic Crime Hildur-series have sold over 500 000 copies in all formats and first three published German translations of the series have spent  many weeks on the Spiegel bestseller list in Germany.

Rämö moved to Iceland twenty years ago as an economics exchange student, but she ended up studying Icelandic culture, literature and mythology before forging a successful career as a blogger, writer, coach and mentor.

Satu had previously published some twenty bestselling, prizewinning non-fiction titles in her native Finland, ranging from travel guides to Iceland, to inspirational memoirs and an Icelandic sweater knitting book with renowned knitwear designer, Sigríður Sif ”Sigga” Gylfadóttir.

Her fiction debut, Hildur was an instant bestseller that was followed by Rósa & Björk  to great acclaim and commercial success. Jakob is the third book in the series, followed by Rakel.

He first children’s title together with Satu Kontinen –  The Island Adventures: The Secret of the Grove – was published in May 2024 and will be followed by The Island Adventures 2: The Secret of the Golden Hay in January 2025.

A TV series of Hildur is in development by Take Two Studios with Sagafilm, and Hildur is also being adapted for stage by Turku City Theatre.

Satu lives with her Icelandic husband and two children in the small town of Ísafjörður in northwest Iceland.
